Hiring velocity: the fastest-growing accounts on list <name>

Open roles today versus 90 days ago for every company on a list, ranked by hiring growth, the top 20 charted, and the chart with the ranked table posted to #sales.

The problem this solves

A count of open roles says how big a company's hiring is. The change in that count says where the company is going. An account that went from four open roles to nineteen in a quarter is scaling, and scaling companies buy tools, change processes and add leaders. A list sorted alphabetically or by headcount hides that motion completely; a list sorted by hiring growth puts it at the top.

Velocity needs two measurements and a comparison, which is why it is rarely computed. Someone would have to record the open-role count for every account, wait, record it again and calculate the difference. Hiring data holds the history, so the comparison can be made in one pass, and a chart of the top movers makes the result readable by people who would never open the table.

Posted to #sales, the chart becomes a weekly argument about where to spend time, which is the point: velocity changes the order of work more reliably than any static attribute on the list.

How the mission runs

  1. Measure open roles now and 90 days ago. For every company on list <name>, the Signals Agent reads hiring data for the number of open roles today and the number that were open 90 days ago, keeping the department mix for both points so growth can be attributed to functions.
  2. Compute growth and rank. Hiring growth is computed as the change in open roles, both absolute and as a percentage, and companies are ranked by a blend of the two so a company going from one role to five is not ranked above one going from twenty to sixty. Companies with no postings at either point are listed separately.
  3. Chart the top 20. The chart capability renders the top 20 by growth as a horizontal bar chart with the before and after counts, and a second chart shows the department mix for the top five so the reader can see whether the growth is in sales, engineering or operations.
  4. Post the chart and the table to #sales. The charts are posted to #sales with the ranked table beneath them - company, roles then, roles now, growth, fastest-growing department - and the growth figures are written back to list <name> so later missions can sort by them.

The prompt

This is the exact objective the agent receives. Swap the obvious placeholders for your own domain, segment or channel and run it as-is from the console, Slack, or the API.

⟨ THE MISSION PROMPT · PASTE AND RUN ⟩

For every company on list <name>, count open roles now versus 90 days ago, rank by hiring growth, chart the top 20, and post the chart with the ranked table to #sales.

What comes back

A #sales post with a chart of the 20 fastest-growing accounts on list <name> by open-role growth over 90 days, a department-mix chart for the top five, and the full ranked table with the before and after counts and the growth per company. List <name> carries the growth figures as columns afterwards, and the report notes how many companies had no postings at either point.

Make it yours

  • Change the window to 30 or 180 days depending on how fast your market moves.
  • Count only roles in the functions your product serves and rank on those.
  • Run it monthly and post the movers - companies that entered or left the top 20 - as a separate section.
  • Create HubSpot tasks for the owners of the top ten accounts with the chart linked.

Frequently asked questions

How is the 90-day-ago figure known?

Hiring data keeps a history of postings with their open and close dates, so the count at any past date can be reconstructed. The row shows both counts so the comparison is transparent.

Does a large company always win the ranking?

No. The blend of absolute and percentage growth is designed to surface fast-growing mid-size accounts alongside large ones, and you can ask for one measure only.

Can I see the actual postings behind the growth?

Yes. Ask for a postings tab and the new roles at each top account are listed with title, department and date.
