Segment report on list <name>, charted

A saved list broken down by industry, headcount band, region and top technologies, each breakdown charted, delivered as a Google Doc with the charts and a CSV of the counts.

The problem this solves

A list of 500 companies is a number until someone describes its shape. Which industries dominate, how the headcount splits, where the companies are, which technologies recur - these answers decide the messaging, the territory plan and whether the list is the segment everyone assumed it was. Building the breakdowns means pivot tables, and the pivots need clean fields that most lists lack.

The Company Intelligence Agent fills the fields first, then computes the breakdowns and renders each one as a chart, and delivers a Doc that reads like a short report: the four pictures, the counts behind them, and a few sentences on what stands out. The CSV of counts travels with it so the figures can be reused in a deck or a model.

How the mission runs

  1. Complete the fields on the list. Industry, headcount, HQ region and detected technologies are filled through the enrichment waterfall wherever list <name> lacks them, so the breakdowns describe the whole list rather than the rows that happened to be complete.
  2. Compute the breakdowns. The list is grouped by industry, by headcount band, by region and by the most common technologies in the categories you care about, with counts and percentages per group, and the long tail collapsed into an 'other' bucket so the charts stay readable.
  3. Render the charts. The chart capability renders each breakdown - typically bars for industry and technology, a column chart for headcount bands, and a bar or map-style chart for region - in a consistent style with the counts labelled.
  4. Write the Doc and export the counts. A Google Doc is written with a one-paragraph summary, the four charts embedded with a short observation under each, and a note on data coverage, and a CSV of the underlying counts is delivered alongside it.

The prompt

This is the exact objective the agent receives. Swap the obvious placeholders for your own domain, segment or channel and run it as-is from the console, Slack, or the API.

⟨ THE MISSION PROMPT · PASTE AND RUN ⟩

Analyze list <name>: break it down by industry, headcount band, region and top technologies, chart each breakdown, and deliver a segment report as a Google Doc with the charts embedded and a CSV of the underlying counts.

What comes back

A Google Doc segment report for list <name> with charts of the industry, headcount, region and technology breakdowns, a short observation under each, a summary paragraph and a coverage note, plus a CSV of the counts and percentages behind every chart. The enriched fields stay on the list for later use.

Make it yours

  • Add funding stage or intent topics as further breakdowns.
  • Compare two lists side by side - for example customers against prospects - with paired charts.
  • Post the summary and the charts to #marketing instead of writing a Doc.
  • Re-run monthly and add a change section showing how the list's shape moved.
  • Add a fit-score distribution as a fifth chart when the list has been scored.

Frequently asked questions

What if many rows lack a field?

The waterfall fills what it can first, and the coverage note states the fill rate per field so each chart can be read with the right confidence.

Can I choose the headcount bands?

Yes. Name the bands and the chart uses them; otherwise standard bands are used and stated in the Doc.

Are the charts editable?

They are embedded as images in the Doc; the CSV holds the counts so the same charts can be rebuilt in any tool.

Can the report be limited to one dimension?

Yes. Ask for the technology breakdown alone, for example, and the Doc contains that chart with its counts and a paragraph of observation.

How are companies with several industries handled?

Each company is counted once under its primary industry from firmographic data, and the coverage note states how many carried more than one classification.

Can I share the report outside the team?

Yes. The Doc is a normal Google Doc; share it as you would any other, and the coverage note gives outside readers the context to read the charts fairly.
